Hi Michelle
I really enjoyed reading your blog post this week. I have not yet watched the video as I’m trying to sort through the mass amount of information, but will be watching over the next few days. I guess I have become, like millions of other people, a “copyright criminal” because I have been driven to copy more and more material for my students. With shrinking school budgets and aging materials, I need to find creative ways to get updated resources to my students. Sonny (Dhaliwal, 2013) has mentioned “that publishers are becoming aware of what is happening in the classroom and cannot control with "copyrights" and hence are becoming more flexible with their material.” With the “fair use policies in Bill C-11” you mentioned, I will be able to use limited amounts of copyrighted material to help enhance student learning without “having to
reinvent the wheel” (Kennedy, 2013). If we are going to use technology to enhance the learning potential of our students, then we need break down the barriers to the information that they require.
